Hi peeps,
Thought i'd put this down in a forum post to save dragging admins out of their playtime. New servers don't really allow much time for personal gaming, so putting it here should take the load off a little.
The server appears quite stable with only the occasional spaz attack (and fewer than some i've been on). But i've found a couple of niggling bugs that seem to occur:
1: Only happened once so far, but somehow I spawned back inside my vehicle on log-in with the associated crunchy bones swiftly followed by death. It hasn't happened since, and I can only think it was something to do with a server reset. Whilst I logged out normally, it was pretty close to reset.
2: Unable to change clothing. I experimented a bit with this and I finally managed to change clothes as long as I got rid of ALL my inventory, except tools and bandages. At all other times, I got a '.can't count magazines' error or something similar, and the clothing was taken. No model change though, and I was still in civvies, but carrying civilian clothing.
That's pretty much all the bugs i've found so far, which isn't bad at all. Now, possible features....
1: On the login message, it says to sell guns/cars for gold. I saw another post regarding towing/lifting and how much of a ballache it was to install, but in truth, it's a huge part of scavenging in dayz. Whilst unrestricted heli lifting can be a little OP, simple towing of vehicles is almost a standard requirement. If you do happen to find a vehicle that you can sell, at the moment you'll have to hide your existing vehicle, lock it (if it locks), take the new vehicle to be sold and then buy a cheaper vehicle to get back to your car.
If it wasn't for this, then I suspect more players would be selling vehicles (especially armed ones, once they've got the humanity) and it may tidy up quite a lot of the vehicles over the map.
2: PlayerID linked buildables. I'll admit, I have virtually no knowledge of this. But as far as I know, if you die for any reason at all, you have to replace your plot pole. That on it's own is a pain in the tits, but not a massive problem. The problem arises when the admins get constant calls for 'can you remove xxx for me?' due to death removing your ability to deconstruct anything you've built already. There appears to be a fairly brand new release of a mod based on a much earlier 'linkable ID' mod, and it apparently doesn't affect/ruin existing bases

I think both of these may make quite a nice addition to the game, although as I said my coding knowledge is limited and I understand how difficult it can be to get mods to play nicely. As for downtime and testing, I have no issues lending a hand if someone tells me what they want me to do, i'll do it. And I often find that the people who moan about restarts/downtime etc often change their minds when they find out how much the game has improved for them.
Any thoughts? This is possibly the best server i've played on so far and the working overpoch traders are worth playing for alone. Just thought that the above might also help out
