You're welcome.
--------------------------------------------
The DayZ OverPoch server has been updated to the new ArmA 2 OA beta server files.
This means you no longer have a UID, you now have a Steam (U)ID.
This means a few things are broken/have changed.
For example, you now HAVE to make a new character when you next connect. No you cannot have your gear back, you were warned about this a week ago. You can have an emergency teleport to Stary Sobor or your base.
People complaining (over stuff that's out of our hands) will get a 4 hour ban.
Donors, you will have to send BioHazard and/or myself your new Steam ID or your custom loadouts will not work.
There's 2 ways to find your Steam ID, either:
1: Go in game, connect to the server, press ESC to see the menu and it'll be there.
2: Go to your Steam Profile page. This will be at http://www.steamcommunity.com/id/<YOUR-USERNAME>?xml=1 - the Steam ID is easy to see in there. If you haven't set a custom ID page up, open Steam mouse-over your name in the top (main) menu and go to "PROFILE". Right-click on that page and "COPY Page URL". The end of the URL is your Steam ID number. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198108507473 for example is LOLARUS's.
You'll have to update your ArmA 2 via Steam + set your launch options, follow these simple instructions:
step 1: Go to your Operation Arrowhead folder.
step 2: Delete the Arma2OA.exe file.
step 3: Delete the Arma2OAserver.exe file.
step 4: Go into your Expansion\ folder.
step 5: Delete the "beta" folder and all it's contents.
step 6: Go to Steam library -> Operation Arrowhead -> right click -> properties -> local files -> verify integrity of game.
step 7: Wait for game to verify.
step 8: Launch ArmA 2 OA. Exit the game after you see the main menu.
step 9: Go to Steam library -> Operation Arrowhead -> right click -> properties -> betas -> opt-in to beta. or it will say (beta-).
step 10: Wait for game to update. When it's done you will have the new Steam-only version of ArmA 2. Right now it is version 125548.
step 11: Run ArmA 2 with the new version and exit the game after you see the main menu.
DayZ Commander DOES NOT CURRENTLY WORK WITH THE NEW STEAM BETA VERSION. Apparently it's being fixed "soon".
To connect to our server:
1: Right click "ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead - beta" in your Steam library.
2: Go to "Properties".
3: Click "Set Launch Options".
4: Paste this in:
-nosplash -mod=@DayzOverwatch;@DayZ_Epoch;
5: Launch the game + click multiplayer.
6: In the server browser, click "FILTER".
7: Paste our server info ( 81.19.211.120:4203) into the box.
Click "OK" and the server browser will show our server. Double click it to join.
If it's not there, click "FILTERS" in the server browser and remove map names etc. (Have it as blank/empty as possible.)
As far as I know, everything is back to normal. I will verify this throughout the day will BioHazard, Pip, Hyper and Rabski.
Post any bugs or problems you find in the comments below or on the forums.
I will post update in the comments below. For now, my priority is finding out about automatic restarts. Last I heard, this was a Battleye problem.
There's also rumours of the anti-hack being a bit fussy with kicks. I'll look into this tonight, when I get home.
Update: Server has now recieved the latest update, Please wait until DY3 can work his magic before trying to join.
We've asked our server provider to update our server to the new ArmA 2 OA patch, which is version 125548.
Their patching process involves them completely wiping the server and then restoring the database. This means your bases, vehicles etc remain intact but there will be no mods in-place until I can fix things. (There'll be no missions, no lifting + towing, etc.)
This patch fixes 2 years worth of ArmA 2 bugs, but seeing as GameSpy is now dead, your characters no longer have a UID number and instead get a Steam ID number.
This means, when the server is updated, you will have to create a new character. So, put your important gear in your safe or you WILL lose it.
There is absolutely no way around this. Blame GameSpy for shutting down.
Plot poles are usually linked to UID's but seeing as you don't need them to build on our server, I can't see it being much of a problem.
I recommend everyone read the patch notes here:
http://www.arma2.com/downloads/ARMA2OA_Update_163_readme.txt
But for now, you don't need to download or do anything. When our server has been patched I'll post a guide on the forums on how to get the right version via Steam. (Those of you with retail copies of ArmA 2 will have to redeem your CD key on Steam.)
BioHazard and I will be fixing problems as we find them. If we're not online, simply post your bugs/problems in our DayZ sub-forum and we'll get to them when we can.
I've updated the Epoch server to 1.0.5.1 and merged in Overwatch again.
It's important to note that base destruction and maintenance is now back in.
Players are responsible for the up-keep of their structures. (Do NOT ask Admins for help with this.)
Destroying other players bases will result in 24 hour bans. No exceptions.
There's more info on our forums - here.
Please post, in that topic, any bugs or problems you encounter.
As always, this is an ongoing work-in-progress. We'll fix stuff as we find it.
When we're happy with 1.0.5.1, we'll fine-tune the donor tools, guide-lines and extras for those of you who've been kind enough to donate.
The concept of core (read: controller based) gaming on Android has been a somewhat laughable notion until recently. Despite valiant efforts from companies like Nvidia, MadCatz, and OUYA to push the platform forward, it has become a victim of its own openness, resulting in frustrating barriers. Stuff like fragmentation of both hardware and OS versions, inconsistent controller support, and an increasing infestation of clones has driven many game developers to give preference to Apple's iOS. But the proverbial stars may finally be aligning for Google to compete with consoles and PC gaming in the living room.
After all, we now live in a world where Razer — a company creating products predominantly targeted at hardcore PC gamers — is making an Android TV game console.
Other names are written in those stars. Names like Nvidia. They’ve declared that Google is “bringing PC-class gaming to Android,” in part thanks to the power of their Tegra K1 chip. The other pieces of the puzzle? Android TV, the Android Extension Pack (EAP), and Epic’s Unreal Engine 4. During the Google I/O keynote today, a new demo of Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 showcased some genuinely stunning realtime gaming graphics. “Quite literally this is PC gaming graphics in your pocket,” Google’s David Burke exclaimed. That’s more than marketing hype. Nvidia’s Kepler desktop GPU architecture is present and accounted for in the Tegra K1.
