If all goes to plan, Microsoft's next-gen API will usher in a new standard for visuals and performance across a whole range of devices, from high-end PCs, to modest laptops, to even the Xbox One.
But the extent in which each platform will benefit from the new software is a matter for debate. Xbox One developers, in particular, have tempered their expectations, with none going as far as publicly claiming that the difference will be day and night. Other developers and publishers, meanwhile, have suggested that the API will pave the way for meaningful enhancements to visual fidelity and performance on PC. But how far can DirectX 12 go? Below, GameSpot provides a guide explaining how each platform is expected to benefit from DirectX 12 support, explaining each of its key new features step by step.

What are tanks for, if not domination? Actually, wait, there's probably a legitimate answer to that question—something to do with supporting infantry, or as a replacement to cavalry; horses having become increasingly obsolete with the advent of mechanised warfare.
Okay, tanks have lots of uses, and one of those uses is domination. Case in point: World of Tanks is full of tanks, and it's dedicating this entire month to a special Domination event.
Three special vehicles are available for the event—the AMX 50 B (D), the Object 140 (D) and the Т110Е5 (D)—all of which are Tier 10 monstrosities.
Unlike other WoT modes, Domination allows players to respawn into a new vehicle after death. Hence: Victory Points, earned by capturing flags and destroying enemy players. No, it's not exactly the most original idea in multiplayer gaming, but it might make for a nice change from World of Tanks' usual modes.
For more details, head over to the official World of Tanks website.
TEAMSPEAK IS NOW RENEWED FOR ANOTHER 6 MONTHS. HOWEVER THIS TIME IT WAS A VERY POOR SHOW OF SUPPORT WITH ONLY 3 PEOPLE DONATING !
ANYONE WHO HAS SPENT a year waiting to play GTA 5 on a PC still has some time to wait thanks to a delay, but they can soothe themselves with the knowledge that they will get a free game and some in-game money to spend.
The free game will be one from the Rockstar canon, and will be available for PC. This is likely to be a limited range, and dare we say that many PC gamers will have already elected to buy, or not buy, the available content.
The latter kind of person will have to suck that up, accept something, and look forward to spending free fake money on in-game things when their chosen darling is released.
The free game and cash offer applies to those who pre-order GTA 5 through the Rockstar website by 1 February.
Frustrated keyboard bashers can choose from titles including Bully, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Manhunt, Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Midnight Club II and Grand Theft Auto III and a maximum cash injection of $500,000.
Rockstar did not use this opportunity to apologise to punters who were gearing up to play GTA 5 in January but must now wait until March.
The company did, however, explain that those who sign up for pre-order sales will find a deposit being taken.
The deposit will be joined by the rest of the cash required by Rockstar when the game is released, along with a download code for the PC version.
Once the non-refundable deposit is taken, players will be offered the chance to select and download their free title.
